As part of its efforts to make roads safer and better for users, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has put in place smart technology to keep an eye on bike and e-scooter paths. The project is in line with Dubai’s Sustainable Mobility Vision 2030 and aims to make these modes of transportation more maintenance-friendly.

The high-tech system uses cameras and sensors that are attached to e-bikes to get a detailed look at the state of bike paths with as little trouble as possible for riders. RTA stressed that this new system offers quick and thorough monitoring, making sure that people using sustainable transportation options are safe and have a good experience.
RTA says that the smart system can check 120 kilometers of bike paths in just four hours. This is a huge improvement over the old way of inspecting, which only covers 2.25 kilometers per day, or a 98 percent increase in speed. In addition, it can do a full study of track conditions and assets over 557 kilometers in just one month, which is 92% better than traditional methods.
The new technology also makes it easier to check the tracks ahead of time and helps with planned repair. This method improves the effectiveness of managing resources and supports long-term financial and environmental health by lowering prices and the need for urgent repairs.
RTA said that this project helps make bike paths safer and more efficient, which promotes the use of environmentally friendly transportation. It also makes Dubai even more of a bike-friendly city and a world leader in smart, environmentally-friendly transportation.
