UAE Develops National Drone Cybersecurity Guidelines

The UAE Cybersecurity Council (CSC) has announced the development of the first national guidelines for drones in the UAE. This announcement was made on Saturday, showcasing the country’s commitment to enhancing drone operations and cybersecurity.

The guidelines were created in collaboration with Reach Digital, a subsidiary of Reach Group that focuses on digital transformation and cybersecurity innovation, and Shieldworkz, a firm specializing in cybersecurity for operational technology and drone protection technologies. These guidelines reflect the UAE’s future-oriented vision to bolster resilience against cyber threats and support secure digital transformation.

According to ARN News, Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cybersecurity, told about the significance of these guidelines, stating that they mark an important milestone in improving the nation’s unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) ecosystem. He emphasized the importance of ensuring that drone operations across government, commercial, and industrial sectors are secure and conform to global best practices.

He also pointed out that as UAV deployment increases in various sectors such as agriculture and logistics, it is essential to proactively address cybersecurity risks to safeguard airspace, infrastructure, and data integrity.

Malik Melhem, CEO of Reach Group, remarked that this partnership underscores their commitment to enhancing the UAE’s digital and cybersecurity infrastructure. He expressed pride in contributing to national readiness by working with the CSC to deliver practical and scalable cybersecurity solutions for the drone sector.
