Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) is organizing an Artificial Intelligence Week from February 17 to 21, 2025. This event is coordinated by the Sorbonne Centre for Artificial Intelligence (SCAI) and will feature seminars and conferences that examine AI from various perspectives. The goal is to offer a comprehensive understanding of AI’s implications and applications.
The event will be open to both experts and the general public, inviting AI enthusiasts, industry leaders, students, and anyone interested in learning about AI. SUAD aims to connect diverse fields to clarify AI concepts and enhance public understanding. Prof. Nathalie Martial-Braz, Chancellor of SUAD, highlighted the institution’s commitment to shaping the future of AI through multidisciplinary research.
Prof. Martial-Braz explained that SUAD not only trains students to use AI responsibly but also contributes to the evolution of AI through research that includes mathematical analysis and ethical considerations. This dedication to ethical AI research has been a focus for SUAD since 2019.
According to One Arabia, Prof. Gérard Biau, Director of SCAI in both Paris and Abu Dhabi, noted the establishment of a sister center in Abu Dhabi in response to the rapid technological advancements occurring in the UAE. He remarked, “Opening a sister centre of SCAI was a natural choice considering the speed of tech developments in the region and especially in the UAE.”
The Sorbonne Centre for Artificial Intelligence began its operations in Paris in 2019 before expanding to Abu Dhabi. This expansion reflects a strong scientific collaboration between France and the UAE, aimed at creating an advanced AI ecosystem with high-quality resources.
SUAD’s initiative is not only focused on academic growth but also on increasing community access to knowledge. By fostering interdisciplinary collaboration, the university seeks to untangle the complexities surrounding AI and deepen participants’ understanding of this transformative technology.
