Mediclinic Middle East, a prominent private healthcare provider in the UAE, has unveiled plans for a significant investment exceeding Dh120 million at its flagship facility, Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital in Abu Dhabi. This investment will be directed toward enhancing and expanding the hospital’s healthcare infrastructure, thereby improving access to high-quality medical services for patients and their families throughout the emirate. The announcement was made during the Abu Dhabi Global Health Week (ADGHW) 2025, a government initiative led by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) aimed at advancing health and well-being in the region.

The ongoing expansion project encompasses several critical developments within the hospital, including the addition of more consulting rooms, an expanded theatre complex, new endoscopy suites, and increased capacity for day care beds. Furthermore, the project will introduce additional labor and delivery rooms and expand the capacity of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

Hein van Eck, the CEO of Mediclinic Middle East, emphasized that this investment is a vital step in addressing the evolving healthcare needs of the Abu Dhabi community. Since entering the Abu Dhabi market in 2016, Mediclinic has focused on enhancing its facilities and service offerings, ultimately improving patient care while supporting the Department of Health’s goals of innovation and sustainable health systems.

This expansion demonstrates Mediclinic’s commitment to providing world-class healthcare services in Abu Dhabi. It is expected to significantly improve the patient experience by enhancing accessibility and offering a wider range of specialized care. Established in 2008, Mediclinic Airport Road Hospital offers a comprehensive array of advanced inpatient and outpatient services. The hospital had previously undergone substantial redevelopment in 2021, which included the addition of a new building that more than doubled its size and introduced a state-of-the-art cancer center. The construction for the current expansion has already commenced, with a phased implementation planned over the coming months, and existing services will continue uninterrupted. The completion of the expansion is anticipated by early 2026.
