The INNOVISIONARIES team from Sharjah has achieved a significant milestone by winning the “Most Inspirational Team” award at the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024. This prestigious recognition comes after a highly competitive event that attracted 93,000 participants from 163 countries, resulting in 10,000 innovative projects submitted.

The Sharjah team was the only representative from the UAE to secure a win. They developed a comprehensive educational plan aimed at high school students, focusing on sustainable development goals. This plan could be integrated into scientific lessons covering essential topics such as weather, geology, and soil health.
The award ceremony is scheduled for June 4th at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre in Greenbelt, USA, where victorious teams will be celebrated for their contributions. Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, President of Dubai University, emphasized the importance of competitions like this in promoting creativity and innovation, which align with the UAE’s national strategy to foster innovation.
Engineer Tareq Salah Al-Din, CEO of GIE, highlighted the significant role of the NASA challenge in promoting innovation among various age groups and advancing space technology. This year’s event featured participation from 202 teams across different regions of the UAE, including Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman, showcasing the country’s commitment to inspiring future generations in the field of science and technology.
