Pakistan’s Deputy PM Encourages UAE Investment in Telecom Sector

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, has called on UAE-based firms, including Etisalat and the global technology group e&, to enhance their investments in Pakistan’s telecom sector. During a meeting in Dubai with Khalifa Al Shamsi, the CEO of e& life and e& international, Dar emphasized that Pakistan has favorable investment policies that present significant opportunities in the telecom market.

The discussions also included Khaled Hegazy, Chief Operations Officer at e& International, along with other officials from both sides. Al Shamsi acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts to foster a business-friendly environment, highlighting the country’s strategic position as a burgeoning market within the region. The meeting aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and identifying new investment opportunities in the telecom sector.

In related news, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif recently departed from Lahore for the United Arab Emirates along with a Pakistani delegation. This visit was invited by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for the World Government Summit, taking place on February 10 and 11.

During this summit, Prime Minister Sharif is scheduled to address attendees and meet with various heads of government, alongside engaging with the Pakistani community and business investors in the UAE. This marks the Prime Minister’s second visit to the UAE since taking office, and he is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and several federal ministers.
