Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, the ultra-low-fare national airline of the UAE, has officially launched its inaugural flight to Gabala from Abu Dhabi. This new route marks a significant milestone as Wizz Air Abu Dhabi becomes the first and only airline to connect Gabala with the UAE, reinforcing its commitment to regional expansion by adding a second airport in Azerbaijan after Baku. This initiative also positions Wizz Air Abu Dhabi as the sole ultra-low-cost carrier operating between Azerbaijan and the UAE capital, providing affordable travel options for residents and tourists alike.

The new route will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with one-way fares starting at just AED 89. Tickets can be purchased on wizzair.com and through the WIZZ mobile app, available in both Arabic and English. To celebrate the launch, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi is offering a promotion of up to 20% off ticket fares available to all customers today.

Tamara Vallois, Head of Commercial at Wizz Air, stated that this launch represents a significant milestone for the airline. She emphasized that the new direct flights to Gabala will not only enhance tourism but also drive economic growth in the region. Vallois mentioned that the affordable fares will enable residents of northern Azerbaijan to easily discover the attractions of Abu Dhabi while allowing travelers from Abu Dhabi to experience the stunning landscapes of Gabala.

Nathalie Jongma, Vice President of Aviation Development at Abu Dhabi Airports, highlighted that Wizz Air Abu Dhabi’s new flights to Gabala are a key step towards improving air connectivity between the UAE and the Caucasus region via Zayed International Airport. She noted that this development will enhance travel options for both residents and tourists and promote Abu Dhabi as a gateway to the world.

Gabala, often called the “Switzerland of Azerbaijan,” is surrounded by lush forests, lakes, and the majestic Caucasus Mountains. It offers a range of activities, including hiking, paragliding, and skiing, alongside cultural sites such as the Gabala Archaeological Center and the Tufandag Mountain Resort. The route aims to boost bilateral tourism and cultural exchange, making the beauty of Azerbaijan more accessible to travelers from the Emirates.

The flights from Abu Dhabi to Gabala are set to begin on June 19, 2025.
