The new equipment will be delivered through long-term global contracts established with leading manufacturers in 2024. These agreements are worth US$ 210 million and will ensure a consistent supply of advanced, lower-emission equipment to support dnata’s growth and sustainability objectives.
The 800 new units will be distributed across 10 countries, with the largest quantities allocated to the UAE, Brazil, Italy, the USA, and Singapore. This distribution reflects dnata’s significant operational expansion in these markets this year.
Clive Sauvé-Hopkins, CEO of dnata Airport Operations, emphasized that the company’s ongoing investment in its modern fleet demonstrates both the scale of its expansion and its commitment to leading the industry in operational excellence and sustainability. He noted that dnata is accelerating the adoption of zero- and low-emission technology, adapting to the realities of infrastructure and working with partners to implement forward-looking solutions.
The company is focusing on phasing out diesel engines and transitioning to electric, hybrid, or hydrogen-powered alternatives tailored to the specific infrastructure and operational conditions of each location. Notably, over 40% of dnata’s fleet is electric in key markets such as Italy, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and the UK.
Furthermore, dnata is actively collaborating with biofuel suppliers to further reduce emissions. Recently, the company transitioned its entire non-electric fleet to biodiesel in Dubai, achieving significant carbon reductions while maintaining operational excellence at one of the world’s leading transport and logistics hubs.
Operational efficiency remains a critical aspect of dnata’s strategy. The company monitors fuel consumption across its GSE fleet using Vehicle Tracking Management systems and conducts logistics mapping exercises to ensure minimal travel distances airside. Additionally, dnata optimizes shifts and parking slots to reduce excessive fuel consumption.
Many of the new advanced equipment units will be showcased at dnata’s stand during the Airport Show, scheduled to take place at the Dubai World Trade Centre from May 6 to May 8.
