UAE Launches First National Drone Regulation for Unmanned Air Navigation

The United Arab Emirates has introduced its first national regulation for unmanned air navigation companies, mandating that air navigation service providers for unmanned aircraft comply with these new standards. This regulation, known as CAR Airspace Part Uspace, was established by the country’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA).

The new regulation outlines various operational standards and requirements that cover essential aspects such as contracts, training, quality, safety, and auditing. Its primary goal is to ensure a seamless integration of drone operations with commercial aviation across UAE airspace.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Interior announced a partial lift on the ban regarding individual drone use, although this update did not apply to Dubai. Recreational drone users are also required to adhere to specific conditions, which include registering through the UAE Drones app and obtaining a training certificate from GCAA-accredited services in order to operate a drone.
