The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has launched a new initiative called ‘Become a Teacher,’ aimed at opening the teaching profession to individuals from various sectors and backgrounds. This unique program allows participants to enter the educational field by completing a one-year accredited post-graduate diploma in education. The initiative encourages both nationals and expatriates to apply, promoting diversity among educators and bridging the gap between educational theory and practice.

As WAM reports, ADEK is looking for applicants who possess excellent communication skills, a passion for sharing knowledge, and the adaptability to face new challenges. This program targets a broad audience, including retired or unemployed professionals, stay-at-home parents, and individuals seeking to make a meaningful impact in education. The first cohort will consist of 125 candidates selected through a rigorous process, and they will undergo an accelerated training program in partnership with renowned higher education institutions such as Abu Dhabi University, Al Ain University, and Emirates College for Advanced Education.

The curriculum is designed to equip future educators with essential teaching skills and knowledge, including how to create effective educational plans and tailored activities to enhance learning experiences. The diploma program will cover classroom management, leadership, and communication strategies to foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment. Additionally, participants will explore innovative teaching methods and the use of technology to improve their teaching effectiveness. Graduates of the program will be well-prepared to meet diverse educational needs in Abu Dhabi’s charter schools.
