Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) announced that it hired 113 Emirati women in 2024, accounting for more than half of the 220 UAE Nationals recruited last year. The company revealed its aim to have women occupy 25% of supervisory roles by the end of 2025, with 15% of all roles targeted for women by the end of 2026. Currently, women hold 23.3% of supervisory positions and 9.6% of all roles at EGA.
By the end of 2024, EGA’s Emiratisation rate stood at 44.3%, making it one of the highest among major companies, especially given its industrial focus. The company now plans to accelerate Emiratisation efforts, with a goal of reaching 50% by 2027. This would involve hiring up to 600 additional UAE Nationals over the next few years.
In 2024, 144 of EGA’s new recruits, including 65 Emirati women, joined its National Training programmes, which are designed to prepare high school graduates for technical and administrative roles. Additionally, a majority of the university graduates who participated in EGA’s Graduate Training programme were women. These programmes include extensive training for supervisory positions, with hands-on experience in corporate or industrial operations.
EGA’s CEO, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, highlighted the company’s achievements, stating via WAM that 71% of UAE National recruits in 2024 joined operational roles, supporting the UAE’s Operation 300bn industrial strategy. He emphasized EGA’s commitment to Emirati talent development, noting that the company exceeded its 2024 Emiratisation targets and is now focused on achieving even more ambitious goals by 2027.
Throughout the year, EGA actively participated in 14 national career events, including major job fairs and collaboration efforts with government entities such as the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Dubai Government Human Resources Department, and various HR departments in RAK and Fujairah.
Currently, more than 1,300 UAE Nationals work at EGA, with over half of them under the age of 35, reflecting the company’s focus on nurturing young Emirati talent.
