The Mentl Awards 2024 honored individuals and organizations making significant contributions to mental health in the GCC during a ceremony held on November 22 at the Connect Conference Centre, Expo City Dubai. Among the recognized experts was Ghenwa Yehia, a regular contributor to Khaleej Times, who received high commendation for her efforts in mental health care within creative industries.
These awards spotlight achievements in various sectors while promoting empathy, resilience, and innovative approaches to mental well-being. Founder of Mentl, Scott Armstrong, expressed excitement about the growing recognition the awards received this year, noting a record number of entries. Armstrong highlighted how the event serves to amplify voices and stories that often go unheard.
The evening featured a keynote address by therapist and author Marisa Peer, while Layne Redman served as the MC.
Winners were announced across numerous categories. Aspen Heights British School was recognized for its outstanding mental health initiative in education, while Siira and Gheorg won for innovation in mental health technology. Other notable winners included Enoc for mental health support in the energy sector and Deloitte Middle East for professional services.
KEO International Consultants stood out with multiple wins across categories, including “Best Mental Health Initiative in the UAE” and “Outstanding Mental Health Support in Construction.” Meanwhile, the Jumeirah Group earned the award for the best mental health program in hospitality and tourism.
The awards also celebrated individual achievements. Dr. Nahida Nayaz Ahmed was named “Mental Health Champion 2024,” while Anna Marie Lopes received recognition for overcoming barriers to succeed.
By celebrating these efforts, the Mentl Awards serve as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing mental health across industries and communities in the region.
