Dubai’s Road and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced plans to expand its fleet by adding 637 new public buses. These buses represent a significant investment of Dhs1.1 billion and are aimed at enhancing the public transport system throughout the city.

Scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026, the new fleet will include various types of buses, among them 40 electric models. All buses will comply with the European “Euro 6” low-emission standards, demonstrating the RTA’s commitment to supporting Dubai’s sustainability objectives. The authority aims to achieve a fully electric and hydrogen-powered public bus fleet by 2050.
In addition to this expansion, the RTA has introduced a bus pooling service for commuters in Dubai. This service provides affordable, door-to-door transportation options tailored to individual schedules, operated by fully licensed and RTA-regulated providers. These initiatives are focused on improving traffic flow in the city and enhancing the overall commuting experience as RTA identifies 40 locations for improvement during the summer months when schools are closed.
