Sharjah Taxi, a subsidiary of Sharjah Asset Management, which is the investment arm of the Government of Sharjah, participated in the UITP Global Public Transport Summit held in Hamburg, Germany. The summit was themed “Public Transport as a Driver of Urban Prosperity,” and aimed to keep participants updated on the latest global trends in public transport. Sharjah Taxi’s involvement focused on exploring smart technologies and solutions that can enhance the quality of services available to the community.

According to Al Kindi, Sharjah Taxi’s participation in this global summit is a significant step in the company’s ongoing efforts to adopt innovative solutions that improve the transportation system in the Emirate. This initiative aligns with Sharjah’s vision of enhancing the quality of life while ensuring the highest standards of comfort and safety for the community.

Al Kindi emphasized the importance of learning from leading global experiences through their participation. He expressed the goal of connecting with experts and decision-makers in the public transport sector to develop future plans that provide advanced, sustainable, and environmentally friendly transport services.

During the summit, Al Kindi also met with Dr. Rumaih bin Mohammed Al-Rumaih, the Acting President of the General Transport Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and President of the UITP MENA Division. The discussions included a review of successful transport experiences in both countries and potential areas for collaboration. They explored ways to exchange expertise to enhance the transport sector and achieve regional integration in this crucial field.

The UITP Global Public Transport Summit serves as a global platform that unites industry leaders, policymakers, and specialists from around the world. The summit facilitates the exchange of expertise and showcases the latest innovations aimed at supporting cities in sustainable development and improving mobility for all.

The 2025 edition of the summit attracted over 10 000 participants, which included transport operators, government entities, policymakers, and industry suppliers from around the globe. The event featured more than 400 exhibitors and around 340 speakers, who gathered to discuss critical issues and future trends, share experiences, and highlight best practices that contribute to strengthening public transport systems and promoting sustainable urban development worldwide.
