The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has completed a significant update to the signage and directional boards at all Dubai Metro stations, aimed at improving public transport usability in the emirate. This update was carried out while residents were celebrating Eid Al Fitr, ensuring that commuters noticed the changes upon returning to the Metro after the four-day holiday.

The RTA announced that the updates are designed to enhance navigation and provide a smoother travel experience. In a post on X, RTA stated, “As part of its ongoing efforts to support the enhancement of #PublicTransport in #Dubai, #RTA has updated the signage at Metro stations to ensure a smooth and up-to-date travel experience.” The improvements included new station entrance and exit signs, which are now highlighted in bright yellow boxes for better visibility.
Additional enhancements involve clearer platform directional indicators, with floor stickers added to help passengers find the correct train lines. Etiquette message stickers have also been placed throughout the stations to promote courteous behavior among commuters. Furthermore, improved directions for train lines are now clearly indicated on the updated signboards, guiding passengers to the correct platforms.
The RTA has also made notable changes to the Women and Children Cabin signage, replacing the previous subtle floor sign with a prominent pink board marked ‘Women and Children Cabin’ for easier identification. Additionally, new signs make platform numbers and destinations clearer, helping passengers locate their trains more efficiently.
Alongside the physical updates, RTA is enhancing its digital systems, which will reflect the changes in smart transport apps and onboard audio announcements. Earlier in March, the RTA had announced plans to update various metro station names, with these changes expected to be finalized by June. This follows the renaming of Al Khail Metro Station to Al Fardan Exchange Metro Station after naming rights were granted to Al Fardan Exchange.
Metro riders are encouraged to familiarize themselves with these updates and to approach station staff for any assistance related to the changes.
