The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has announced a new inspection system aimed at improving the efficiency and safety of the Dubai Metro and Tram services. This integrated digital platform is designed to streamline inspection operations and monitor passenger compliance with regulations, particularly regarding designated spaces for women and children.

The new system will help address the issue of men entering female-only cabins, a violation of the rules in place for the Metro and Tram. The RTA has emphasized that the update will enhance the experience for passengers, especially for those in Gold Class cabins, as it will monitor unauthorized access by Silver nol card holders more effectively.
Moreover, the new inspection process will utilize data analysis to optimize the deployment of fare inspectors in high-priority areas. This approach aims to identify repeat offenders and educate them on following the RTA’s regulations. The RTA noted that the collaboration with Keolis MHI, the company responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Metro and Tram, has resulted in a 14 percent increase in inspection rates and a higher detection rate of violations.
The RTA has set a fine of Dhs100 for accessing or sitting in areas designated for specific categories on the Dubai Metro. Additionally, the digitized technology is expected to contribute to urban sustainability efforts by reducing resource consumption, thereby promoting environmentally friendly practices in the transport ecosystem.
