The new fleet features modern electric buses designed to offer a more comfortable and efficient travel experience. This includes three articulated buses that are 30 meters long, each providing 44 seats and capable of accommodating up to 200 passengers. An additional articulated bus measuring 18 meters in length has been introduced, with 46 seats and a capacity for approximately 110 passengers.

The buses operate on a regular schedule tailored to the needs of commuters, departing every 30 minutes during peak hours and every 60 minutes during off-peak times. The service covers a 27-kilometer route, starting at Al Reem Mall, traveling through Zayed the First Street, and reaching Al Kasr Marina Mall before returning, with stops at 13 stations along the way.

According to the ITC, this initiative aligns with efforts to enhance sustainability in the transportation sector. Electric vehicles are seen as a means to reduce carbon emissions, decrease energy consumption, and improve air quality. This move is part of Abu Dhabi’s Vision 2030, which aims to develop a modern infrastructure that supports a green economy.

The ITC has expressed that this service marks a significant step towards the broader adoption of electric transportation across the emirate, helping boost Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a leading smart city. Since its launch, the service has received positive feedback from residents and visitors alike, who have praised the comfort and efficiency of the electric buses, especially during the busy month of Ramadan when demand for public transportation spikes.

This initiative reflects Abu Dhabi’s commitment to promoting sustainable transportation through innovative technological solutions, ultimately enhancing the daily transit experience for residents and setting a benchmark for other smart cities focused on sustainability.
