Sharjah RTA Collaborates with King Long to Launch Electric Bus Fleet

The Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority (SRTA) has partnered with King Long, a premium bus and coach manufacturer, to introduce the first fleet of electric buses in Sharjah. This initiative represents a significant advancement in the emirate’s public transportation industry and supports SRTA’s commitment to promoting sustainable mobility within the UAE.

Currently, King Long has ten electric buses operating on Sharjah roads, with plans to increase this number to twenty by the second half of 2025. The electric bus fleet includes the luxurious C12E intercity coach and the PEV9 city bus, both offering a driving range of up to 450 kilometers on a full charge. The introduction of these electric buses is expected to significantly enhance the public transport landscape in Sharjah.

Abdulaziz Mohammed Al Jarwan, Director of Transportation Affairs at SRTA, noted that this initiative aligns with the UAE’s goal of reducing carbon emissions through clean energy and green mobility. He emphasized that SRTA has formed multiple partnerships with leading electric vehicle manufacturers to further this objective. Malik Mohammad Tariq, Vice President of Dealership at Al Ghurair Mobility, highlighted that the delivery of King Long’s electric buses is a crucial step towards fostering sustainability through innovative mobility solutions. Al Ghurair Mobility, as King Long’s exclusive distributor in the UAE, is actively supporting the country’s vision for eco-friendly transportation.
