Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), part of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has announced an enhancement to the mass transit service on Zayed the First Street. This improved service will begin in conjunction with the Holy Month of Ramadan, reflecting the city’s strategy to advance smart and sustainable mobility solutions for both residents and visitors.

The enhanced service will utilize a fleet of high-capacity electric vehicles, including four modern electric vehicles designed for comfort and efficiency. These vehicles will help manage demand effectively while contributing to reduced traffic congestion and lower carbon emissions, supporting environmental goals in the Emirate.
The operational details of the new service will feature electric articulated vehicles on Zayed the First Street, comprising three 30-meter-long electric vehicles, each with 44 seats and a capacity for up to 200 passengers. Additionally, an 18-meter-long electric articulated vehicle will operate, offering 46 seats with a capacity for approximately 110 passengers.
The service will follow a regular schedule throughout the day, with buses departing every 30 minutes during peak hours and every 60 minutes during off-peak hours. The route spans 27 kilometers, starting from Reem Mall, passing through Zayed the First Street, reaching Marina Mall, and then returning to the starting point. This route includes 13 stops, ensuring extensive coverage and enhancing the public transport experience in Abu Dhabi.
The Automated Rapid Transit (ART) system, which was first launched in October 2023, has undergone successive development phases aimed at improving operational efficiency and enhancing the passenger experience. This service is part of Abu Dhabi Mobility’s vision to support sustainable transport and encourage the use of environmentally friendly electric vehicles, contributing to a reduction in the region’s carbon footprint and improving air quality.
