World’s Largest Visa Application Centre Opens in Dubai

The world’s largest visa application centre has officially opened in Dubai’s Wafi City, significantly improving access for travel to and from the emirate. This announcement was made on Tuesday, highlighting the centre’s capacity to handle up to 10 000 visa applications each day, which is the highest capacity of any such facility worldwide.

Spanning approximately 150 000 square feet, the new VFS Global centre is designed to enhance Dubai’s standing as a global hub and the most future-ready city. Helal Saeed Al Marri, the Director General of the Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai, emphasized the importance of facilitating visa access, stating that it is crucial for attracting talent, boosting tourism, and strengthening international partnerships.

The facility boasts several key features tailored to meet the needs of applicants. Self-service kiosks, secure lockers, photo booths, and photocopy stations are available for last-minute requirements. Additionally, touch-screen information kiosks and QR code-based check-ins have been implemented to ensure a smooth visitor experience, as noted in a statement from VFS Global.

More than 400 trained experts from over 25 nationalities staff the centre, ready to assist applicants. They are equipped with tablets and supported by trained volunteers who provide help with forms and kiosks. The centre also includes fast-track lanes specifically designed for seniors, families, and people of determination, ensuring a more accessible experience for all users.
