Celestyal Cruises has signed a significant three-year partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) to promote Abu Dhabi as a leading cruise destination. This announcement was made during the Seatrade Global event in Miami. The collaboration aims to expand Celestyal’s presence in the Arabian Gulf region by establishing Abu Dhabi as a key homeport for its cruise operations, starting in December 2025.

Beginning in December 2025, Celestyal will base its 1,360-passenger ship, the Celestyal Discovery, in Abu Dhabi. This ship will serve as the homeport for new itineraries dubbed “Iconic Arabia.” These itineraries will feature three-, four-, and seven-night cruises that highlight the cultural and natural beauty of the Gulf. The cruises will include weekend trips to Dubai and Sir Bani Yas Island and weekday voyages to Doha, Ras Al Khaimah, and Khasab in Oman.
In addition to the new itineraries, the existing Celestyal Journey will return to the region, continuing its popular seven-day “Amazing Desert” itinerary. This journey departs from Doha and visits several destinations, including Bahrain, Dubai, Khasab, Sir Bani Yas Island, and Abu Dhabi. Following a successful inaugural season from November to March 2025, the itinerary will be extended for at least three more seasons, underlining the Dubai region’s growing appeal as a cruise destination.
Lee Haslett, Celestyal’s Chief Commercial Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that it is a privilege to collaborate with DCT Abu Dhabi. He noted that Abu Dhabi is an ideal location for Celestyal’s guests, who seek immersive and culturally rich experiences.
The partnership also includes a diverse range of shore excursions in Abu Dhabi, designed to immerse passengers in the emirate’s unique culture. These excursions will feature half-day city tours, culinary experiences, visits to world-class theme parks, VIP beach days, and classic desert safaris, ensuring a variety of activities for all types of travelers.
This collaboration signals a promising future for the cruise industry in the Arabian Gulf, as interest in the region continues to rise. With an expected increase in the number of cruise passengers visiting the area, the introduction of new itineraries and homeporting in Abu Dhabi enhances the emirate’s status as a prime destination for international travelers.
