Since its launch in 2019, the UAE Tour has become a standout event in the country’s annual calendar, blending sports and tourism to attract global attention. Organized with significant international participation, the event has grown into one of the UAE’s most prestigious platforms, showcasing the nation’s development and boosting its tourism sector.
The cycling tour highlights the UAE’s iconic landmarks, including the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Louvre Abu Dhabi, Yas Island, Jebel Hafeet, and Hatta, creating a stunning backdrop for the event. It has not only drawn tourists but also contributed to the country’s economy by strengthening partnerships with global sponsors, generating investments to enhance sports infrastructure, and creating jobs in sectors like marketing, hospitality, and logistics.
The 2024 edition of the UAE Tour hosted thousands of participants and workers. Official statistics revealed nearly 6,000 hotel nights were booked during the men’s and women’s tours combined. Sponsors also provided 90 vehicles, while over 1,000 individuals worked in various roles, from team support to logistics.
Over the years, top cycling champions have competed in the event, with notable winners including Primož Roglič in 2019, Adam Yates in 2020, and Tadej Pogačar, who won consecutively in 2021 and 2022. The 2023 title went to Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel, followed by Lennard Kämna in 2024.
Aref Hamad Al Awani, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, told WAM that the UAE Tour’s success reflects the nation’s commitment to excellence. He explained that the event promotes the UAE’s cultural, social, and economic diversity to millions around the world.
UAE Tour Director Fabrizio D’Amico credited the Abu Dhabi Sports Council’s support for the event’s growing reputation in international cycling. He emphasized that collective efforts in organizing the tour have helped it reach its current global status.
The seventh edition of the UAE Tour is scheduled for February 2025 and promises to feature top-tier cycling stars once again, further cementing its position as a leading event in the global sporting calendar.
