Starting January 1, 2025, traveling to Thailand will become much easier for UAE residents and visitors worldwide. Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs is set to launch a global electronic visa (eVisa) system, allowing travelers to complete the entire visa application process online. The move is expected to save time and reduce the hassle of embassy or consulate visits.

Previously available in limited locations, the new eVisa system will now be accessible worldwide through all 94 Royal Thai Embassies and Consulates General. This means more nationalities can take advantage of the simplified process, which eliminates the need for physical paperwork.

To apply, tourists can visit the official portal at www.thaievisa.go.th. Applicants will need to upload documents such as a scanned passport copy, a recent photograph, proof of residence, travel booking confirmations, and accommodation details. UAE residents may also need additional paperwork, including a UAE residence permit or a No-Objection Certificate from their sponsor.

The cost for a single-entry, 60-day eVisa has been set at Dh400, according to the Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi. Once approved, travelers will receive their eVisa via email, which can be printed and presented to airlines and immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand.

This new system is designed to offer greater convenience, faster processing times, and accessibility for tourists, business travelers, and other short-term visitors
