The UAE Parliamentary Division participated in the 11th BRICS Parliamentary Forum held in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil. During this event, parliamentary delegations engaged in discussions focusing on climate issues, artificial intelligence, peace and security, as well as institutional parliamentary cooperation.

Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, a member of the Federal National Council (FNC), emphasized that artificial intelligence offers significant potential for fostering development and achieving balanced growth. She noted that optimal investment in AI necessitates sound governance, which should begin with fair and equitable legislation.
Falaknaz asserted that technological advancements should not compromise justice, privacy, and digital sovereignty. She underscored the importance of integrating ethical and human considerations when crafting legal and regulatory frameworks related to AI.
She highlighted the UAE’s role as a leader in anticipating technological advancements through various initiatives. These include the appointment of the world’s first Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence and the launch of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031, which aims to enhance government performance and achieve economic excellence through AI technologies. Furthermore, she mentioned the establishment of the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.
In concluding her remarks, Falaknaz stressed the need for flexible and ethical legislation that adapts to rapid technological changes. She advocated for supporting innovation ecosystems, protecting individual and societal rights, and enhancing international parliamentary cooperation to share expertise and develop unified standards for secure and inclusive digital transformation.
