The whitepaper builds on e& UAE’s established leadership in 5G technology, which includes achieving a remarkable 5G-Advanced speed of 62 Gbps. It emphasizes that 6G is not just an evolution but a revolution in connectivity, computation, and collaboration. Marwan Bin Shakar, Acting Chief Technology and Information Officer of e& UAE, stated, “6G is not just an evolution, it’s a revolution in how we connect, compute, and collaborate.” He further explained that the aim is to create an intelligent infrastructure that supports everything from extended reality (XR) and self-driving vehicles to AI-native networks and widespread connectivity.

The whitepaper describes 6G as an intelligent, sensing, and sustainable network that will empower digital societies, industries, and governments. It anticipates peak data rates in the terabit-per-second range and latency under one millisecond, which will enable immersive experiences, autonomous mobility, and inclusive digital services at an unprecedented scale.

e& UAE presents a vision where telecommunications evolve into an intelligent, adaptive infrastructure capable of making autonomous decisions and securing national interests. The whitepaper indicates that with support from the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) and global partners, 6G will form a cognitive, secure, and sustainable ecosystem. This ecosystem will combine AI-native intelligence, integrated sensing, quantum-grade security, sub-THz spectrum, and non-terrestrial networks.

Central to this vision is the AI-native network, which integrates machine learning across all layers—from devices to applications. This integration allows for self-optimization, predictive fault management, and fully autonomous service delivery, all essential for the demands of smart cities and real-time industrial systems.

The document also discusses Integrated Sensing and Communication (ISAC) as a crucial feature of 6G. This innovation will transform communication nodes into distributed sensors, allowing networks to detect motion, map terrain, track assets, and assess structural conditions, thereby becoming real-time environmental observatories that enhance public safety and urban planning.

Additionally, the whitepaper underscores the need for quantum-secure infrastructure in light of advancements in quantum computing. It incorporates post-quantum cryptography and secure-by-design principles to protect data and services from future threats, ensuring long-term resilience for both public and private sectors.

Another key aspect highlighted is the integration of Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTNs) into the 6G architecture. This feature will provide continuous coverage across diverse terrains, including deserts, oceans, and rural areas, enhancing national connectivity and enabling diverse applications such as drone delivery and remote industrial operations.

The whitepaper outlines potential transformative use cases across sectors, including holographic telepresence and immersive tourism, many of which are already being tested in the UAE. As the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and 3GPP work on the global IMT-2030 framework, e& UAE is actively involved in shaping the standards and policies that will define the 6G landscape.
