Abu Dhabi Set to Launch World’s First Cognitive AI City, Aion Sentia

Abu Dhabi is preparing to unveil Aion Sentia, the world’s first cognitive AI city, designed to enhance daily life by learning and adapting to its residents’ needs. Set for completion in 2027, Aion Sentia aims to go beyond the features of traditional smart cities by integrating systems that anticipate user requirements in real-time. For instance, it can order your daily coffee or remind you about important dates, such as anniversaries, and even make dinner reservations.

At the core of Aion Sentia is MAIA, an innovative AI application that connects users with various services such as public transport, healthcare, and utilities. MAIA is designed to learn individual preferences and routines, making life more convenient for residents. The project is a collaboration between My Aion Inc., an Italian AI company, and Bold Technologies, a division of Bold Holding. The initiative is supported by a substantial Dhs9 billion Build-Operate-Transfer agreement, ensuring the project goes beyond mere concept and moves into execution.

What sets Aion Sentia apart from other smart city initiatives is its ability to operate as a unified digital brain, rather than relying on multiple disconnected applications. Users can inquire about reducing energy bills or scheduling doctor appointments through MAIA, who will manage these tasks seamlessly. The project represents a significant advancement in the UAE’s ambitions for artificial intelligence, promising to create jobs, stimulate local tech innovation, and partner with universities to cultivate future talent in the digital landscape.

Initially, Aion Sentia will debut in Abu Dhabi, a city known for its commitment to innovation, with plans for global expansion in the future. Daniele Marinelli, CEO of My Aion Inc., emphasized the transformative nature of this city, stating, “This city will not just be smart; it will be cognitive — learning and evolving with its residents.”
