As reported by MSN, Ahmad Jamal, the Regional Director of Artificial Intelligence Solutions at NVIDIA, stated that the UAE has made significant progress in establishing itself as a global and regional hub for artificial intelligence (AI). He highlighted that the nation has moved beyond merely investing in infrastructure and technologies to a phase where it is now experiencing economic and technological returns.

In a statement to Emirates News Agency (WAM) during the Dubai AI Festival, Jamal mentioned the launch of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031. This initiative aims to raise AI’s contribution to the country’s GDP to 14%. This strategy represents a meaningful shift towards a knowledge-based economy and reflects the ambitious vision of the UAE’s leadership.

He further explained that the Abu Dhabi government is targeting a complete implementation of AI technologies in government entities by 2027. The strategy is projected to generate up to AED 24 billion in GDP from the AI sector in the coming years.

Jamal added that the UAE was among the first nations to adopt a comprehensive approach to AI technologies. This began with the establishment of the world’s first Ministry of Artificial Intelligence in 2017 and the appointment of its inaugural minister for this forward-looking technology. These actions have laid a strong foundation for rapid advancements that have positioned the UAE as a leader in the AI field.

He emphasized that the UAE is not only focused on building advanced digital infrastructure but is also committed to developing a fully integrated cybersecurity framework. A notable example of this is the launch of a Cybersecurity Center of Excellence in collaboration with Google.

Additionally, Jamal noted that the world is currently experiencing a significant transition from generative AI to Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). He pointed out that the Dubai AI Festival is showcasing the launch of a new AI model developed entirely in Dubai, which is set to be released globally. This highlights the UAE’s pioneering role in shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
