Carbon Clean has successfully completed the first industrial deployment of its CycloneCC, a modular carbon capture unit. The deployment marks a significant achievement as the unit has operated for 4,000 hours over a six-month period, elevating it to Technology Readiness Level 7 (TRL 7).

The CycloneCC unit has consistently delivered a high purity CO2 product that surpasses expected targets and meets the CO2 purity requirements set by Fertiglobe. System validation indicates that this industrial demonstration unit can be further scaled up and commercialized effectively.
Installed in Abu Dhabi in less than a week, the CycloneCC unit’s rapid deployment sets a new record for the carbon capture sector. The technology combines rotating packed beds with Carbon Clean’s proprietary amine-promoted buffer salt APBS-CDRMax solvent, enhancing the efficiency and performance of the carbon capture process.
Aniruddha Sharma, Chair and CEO of Carbon Clean, emphasized the importance of Fertiglobe’s investment in innovative projects, calling it a major step toward the commercial success of CycloneCC. He remarked that the ability to install a carbon capture plant in under a week is an unprecedented achievement in the industry.
Furthermore, the innovative application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) developed by Carbon Clean has been crucial in improving the reliability and performance of the plant. The system has been functioning in open loop mode, with human operators acting on AI-generated recommendations.
Ahmed El-Hoshy, CEO of Fertiglobe, highlighted that sustainability is central to their operations. He stated that their collaboration with Carbon Clean at the Al Ruwais facility showcases their commitment to utilizing advanced technologies to further their decarbonization objectives while meeting the growing global demand for low-carbon solutions.
