Hesai’s Lidar Solution Fuels Apollo Go’s Expansion into Dubai

Hesai Technology (HSAI) has announced that its lidar solution will be instrumental in powering Apollo Go’s significant expansion into Dubai. This partnership aims to accelerate the global adoption of safe and intelligent driverless technology. The announcement comes on the heels of an exclusive agreement signed between Hesai and Baidu Apollo in July 2024.

Apollo Go plans to scale its fleet to 1,000 vehicles, showcasing the reliability and performance of Hesai’s lidar technology in enabling Level 4 (L4) autonomous driving in complex urban environments. The RT6 robotaxis from Apollo Go have already shown remarkable operational efficiency in China, achieving a 60% reduction in costs compared to previous vehicle generations.

This collaboration is expected to enhance the deployment of autonomous vehicles in Dubai, contributing to the city’s ambitions for smart transportation solutions. The integration of Hesai’s technology underlines the growing importance of lidar in the development of driverless vehicles and the future of urban mobility.
