Smart Mobility International (SMI) has announced the introduction of the AVATR brand in the UAE, marking a significant step in the region’s automotive landscape. The UAE will be the first international market to host these innovative range-extended electric vehicles, following an agreement signed with AVATR Technology. SMI is a subsidiary of a major UAE automotive agency, which has over 40 years of experience in distributing luxury brands such as Rolls-Royce, BMW, and McLaren.

AVATR Technology, known for manufacturing luxury New Energy Vehicles, is a joint venture that includes Chang’an Automobile and CATL, a leader in smart energy technology, along with Huawei. This collaboration enhances AVATR’s capabilities in research and development, smart energy technology, and creating an intelligent vehicle ecosystem. The design of these vehicles is led by Chief Designer Nader Faghihzade, who previously worked with BMW, and they are crafted at AVATR’s global design center located in Munich.

According to Zawya, Moutaz Louis highlighted the potential of AVATR to transform the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market, stating that the products will offer a new standard of luxury and performance. The launch campaign for AVATR is set for Q4 2024 and will utilize both physical and digital platforms to generate excitement. The first showroom is planned to open on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, featuring state-of-the-art facilities designed to enhance the customer experience.

Initially, AVATR will introduce the flagship models, AVATR 11 and AVATR 12, with additional Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) and Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) models expected to be released in 2025. Smart Mobility International is dedicated to leading the future of intelligent and sustainable mobility in the UAE, leveraging over four decades of luxury automotive experience in sales, service, and support.

AVATR Technology, established in 2018, focuses on future-oriented mobility solutions to create vehicles that act as “emotionally intelligent companions.” With support from industry leaders Changan, CATL, and Huawei, AVATR vehicles are built on the CHN platform, featuring Smart Electric Vehicle (SEV) architecture that boasts high computing power and advanced charging capabilities. The company is headquartered in Chongqing, China, with research and development facilities in Shanghai and a global design center in Munich, Germany.
