Dubai-based AR Lab has partnered with Snapchat to create an innovative Ramadan gift box that merges augmented reality (AR) technology with traditional Ramadan customs. This unique gift experience is designed to enhance the celebration of Iftar during the holy month of Ramadan.

The gift box features a crescent-shaped die-cut that reveals a yellow plate inspired by Snapchat’s branding, complete with the recognizable Snap Ghost logo. Additionally, it includes a printed ‘Snapcode’ that encourages recipients to scan and unlock Snapchat’s exclusive marker technology. When users point their camera at the Snap plate, they can see three traditional Ramadan dishes appear virtually. These dishes are presented on a personalized table mat, which also displays descriptions of each dish, thereby providing inspiration while honoring the essence of traditional Iftar gatherings.
Wissam Jomaa, founder and CEO of The AR Lab, expressed that this project showcases the potential of advanced technologies like AR to create meaningful and engaging experiences. He noted that the initiative not only emphasizes the spirit of unity during Ramadan but also reflects their commitment to integrating technology into everyday life for improved convenience and enjoyment.
Karim Refaat, Business Marketing Manager at Snap Inc., mentioned that through this initiative, they aim to respect the sacred traditions of the holy month while demonstrating the capabilities of their pioneering AR technology. He added that this gift represents an innovative and culturally relevant way to appreciate their valued partners, similar to how they enable brands to connect authentically with their audiences.
