Dubai-based AR Lab has partnered with Snapchat to create a special gift box designed for Ramadan that integrates augmented reality (AR) technology with traditional practices. This innovative package features a crescent-shaped die-cut that reveals a vibrant yellow plate, inspired by the Snap branding and decorated with the well-known Snap Ghost logo.

Inside the box, there is a printed ‘Snapcode’ that allows recipients to scan and unlock Snapchat’s exclusive marker technology. When users point their camera at the Snap plate, they will see three traditional Ramadan dishes appear virtually, enhanced by AR. This experience is complemented by a personalized table mat that provides descriptions of each dish, enriching the traditional Iftar experience.
Wissam Jomaa, the founder and CEO of The AR Lab, emphasized that this project demonstrates the potential of advanced technologies like AR to create meaningful and engaging experiences. He noted that the initiative not only highlights the spirit of unity during Ramadan but also reflects their commitment to integrating technology into everyday life for greater convenience and enjoyment.
Karim Refaat, Business Marketing Manager at Snap Inc., explained that the goal of this initiative is to honor the traditions of the holy month while showcasing the capabilities of their pioneering AR technology. He stated that the gift serves as a way to express appreciation to valued partners in an innovative and culturally relevant manner.
