The Quantum Innovation Summit 2025 wrapped up recently, hosted by the UAE Cyber Security Council and organized by Vernewell Group. This significant event gathered global pioneers, policymakers, and industry leaders to discuss the future of quantum science and technology, resulting in major announcements and strategic collaborations that solidify the UAE’s role in quantum innovation.

Over the course of three days, the summit attracted key stakeholders from government, academia, and industry, including prominent organizations such as Microsoft, IBM, D-Wave, and Palo Alto Networks. Experts engaged in in-depth discussions on the integration of quantum technology across various sectors, including computing, cryptography, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, which is expected to accelerate its adoption in multiple industries.

The summit began with the Quantum Futures Forum, which aimed to align advancements in quantum technology with global security and economic resilience. The Quantum Debates served as a platform for thought leaders to discuss governance challenges, investment opportunities, and industrial adoption, fostering collaboration towards creating a quantum-powered economy.

Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, head of Cyber Security for the UAE Government, delivered a keynote address at the event, emphasizing the critical national security implications of quantum technologies. Following that, Dr. Najwa Aaraj, CEO of the Technology Innovation Institute (TII), highlighted significant advancements in quantum computing, cryptography, and sovereign research and development capabilities.

A standout moment of the summit was the launch of VerneX Quantum Valley by Vernewell Group, based at NYU Abu Dhabi’s Center for Quantum and Topological Systems (CQTS). This initiative aims to promote commercialization and deep-tech entrepreneurship. Several strategic partnerships were also unveiled, including collaborations between ID Quantique and Abu Dhabi Maritime Academy to bolster quantum-secure communications, and between Kipu Quantum and CQTS NYU Abu Dhabi focused on developing quantum algorithms.

The summit also featured the Quantum Marine Conference, which explored the applications of quantum technology in enhancing maritime security and operational efficiency. An Academic Aisle was set up for researchers and students to present their innovations, and the Vernewell QInnovision World Challenge showcased various quantum-powered solutions.

Recognitions at the summit included the National Achievement Leadership in Innovation Awards, awarded to Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Dr. Saeed Al Dhaheri, and Faisal Al Bannai for their contributions in cybersecurity, digital transformation, and sovereign technology development. The FemTum Leap Awards celebrated women influencing the future of quantum technology, highlighting the importance of inclusive leadership in deep tech.
