The Sharjah Cyber Security Centre will operate under the Digital Sharjah initiative and is focused on raising awareness about cybersecurity. It aims to provide training to ensure effective and sustainable protection of information. The centre will be responsible for formulating guidelines and rules to safeguard information and monitor compliance with these standards among government agencies in Sharjah.

In addition to its internal responsibilities, the centre will foster collaboration among public and private organizations both locally and internationally. It will also offer technical assistance on information security matters and collaborate with research institutions to explore topics related to online safety. The SEC has appointed Abdul Nasser Obaid Ibrahim Bu Khater as the new Director of the Sharjah Cyber Security Centre to lead these efforts.
