The business environment in Qatar is rapidly evolving due to economic uncertainty, geopolitical complexities, and technological advancements. As a result, leaders are adopting agile and proactive strategies to integrate new technologies and develop resilient business models. A survey indicates that 48 percent of CEOs prioritize generative AI, although 40 percent express hesitancy due to competing priorities. Key barriers to implementation include ethical challenges (60 percent), technical skills shortages (56 percent), and regulatory gaps (36 percent). Nonetheless, 64 percent of business leaders expect to see returns on their generative AI investments within three to five years, with 80 percent recognizing its potential to be both a disruptor and a competitive advantage.

Despite these expectations, only 32 percent of CEOs feel confident in their organization’s data readiness, and just 28 percent believe their workforce is equipped to fully leverage generative AI. On the employment front, 80 percent do not foresee drastic job cuts, but they do anticipate significant upskilling and resource redeployment, while 20 percent predict job creation. In the area of cybersecurity, 64 percent of CEOs feel well-prepared for potential cyber-attacks, although 16 percent acknowledge existing vulnerabilities. While 68 percent report increasing their investments to protect operations, only 40 percent express confidence in adapting cybersecurity measures to advancements in AI technology. Ahmed Ben Abdallah remarked that 60 percent of CEOs stress the importance of fostering a cybersecurity-focused culture, indicating a careful approach to integrating generative AI within Qatar’s business landscape.

By leveraging AI-driven learning, promoting cross-generational mentorship, and prioritizing upskilling, companies in Qatar can cultivate a future-ready workforce that aligns with the nation’s vision for sustainable development.
