Dubai has announced future locations for drone delivery services throughout the emirate, aiming to utilize advanced technologies to alleviate traffic congestion and enhance convenience for its residents. In December 2024, four delivery routes were introduced at Dubai Silicon Oasis, marking the launch of the Middle East’s first drone delivery service. The Dubai Civil Aviation Authority confirmed that these services will be available at designated locations across the city.

The first license for drone delivery, which includes the transportation of items such as medicines, was granted to Keeta Drone in late 2024. Keeta Drone is a subsidiary of the Chinese technology and retail company Meituan and it has become the first Chinese drone logistics operator to obtain an overseas license. During the launch, the Dubai Crown Prince placed the very first order, showcasing the service’s operational readiness.
Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, highlighted the significance of this milestone. According to Khaleej Times, he stated, “A decade ago, we introduced the UAE Drones for Good Award to encourage the positive use of drone technology. Today, we have reached a significant milestone with operational readiness to commence drone delivery operations.”
In previous discussions, the most suitable locations for these services were evaluated. Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, the director-general of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, noted that the drone delivery system, which has undergone testing for several years, is expected to cover 33 percent of Dubai by the year 2030.
