Abu Dhabi’s forward-thinking coding academy, 42 Abu Dhabi, recently hosted an AI Hackathon that brought together over 80 students to solve real-world challenges using advanced AI technologies. The event, organized in partnership with SambaNova Systems and CloudingAI, concluded with three standout projects addressing critical sectors such as healthcare, legal, and transportation.

One of the winning projects presented an AI-powered emergency response system aimed at improving emergency care by seamlessly connecting paramedics with hospitals. Another project introduced an intelligent legal assistant using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to analyze UAE legal documents, draft contracts, and provide context-aware legal insights. The third project featured an AI voice assistant designed to offer real-time updates on public transit routes and schedules, employing advanced geocoding APIs for accuracy.
Dr. Ahmed Al Shoaibi, Acting CEO of 42 Abu Dhabi, highlighted the hackathon’s role in preparing a future-ready workforce aligned with Abu Dhabi’s Government Digital Strategy 2025-2027. Speaking to WAM, he talked about the importance of the academy’s commitment to equipping students with skills to lead in AI innovation.
SambaNova Systems, a global leader in AI hardware, echoed similar sentiments. Soufiane Chami, Principal AI Solutions Engineer, said the event showcased both their cutting-edge AI technology and the remarkable talent at 42 Abu Dhabi.
The hackathon served as a platform for students to collaborate, think critically, and develop AI-driven solutions, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a global leader in digital transformation and innovation.
