As reported by Emarat Al Youm, the new rail system is a key step in elevating the UAE’s status as a leader in smart and sustainable transportation. It aligns with the country’s vision for balancing economic growth with environmental preservation, as laid out in the UAE’s Strategic Initiative for Climate Neutrality 2050.

The train, which will operate at a maximum speed of 350 km/h, will not only ease daily commutes but also strengthen economic and social ties between the two emirates. It is expected to open doors to greater investment opportunities in sectors like logistics and tourism, while also supporting sustainable development goals.

Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the transformative impact of the project in a post on his social media account, stating that it will boost the UAE’s GDP by approximately AED 145 billion over the next 50 years. He also thanked Etihad Rail’s team for their efforts in advancing smart and innovative transportation solutions.

The unveiling ceremony also showcased the UAE’s first fleet of passenger trains, capable of reaching speeds of 200 km/h. These trains will initially connect Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, and Fujairah, offering a reliable, safe, and efficient travel option. The stations will feature modern amenities, including lounges, retail outlets, and family-friendly spaces, with designs inspired by the UAE’s heritage.

In addition, Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Abdullah Mohammed Al Basti, Secretary-General of the Dubai Executive Council, signed a cooperation charter to advance the project’s infrastructure. This collaboration reflects the unified commitment of both emirates to enhance connectivity and national development.

Tenders for project contracts have already been issued, and the design of the network has been finalized, marking significant progress in bringing this ambitious vision to life. Once completed, this high-speed rail system is expected to redefine transportation in the UAE, making it more sustainable and efficient.
