UAE’s MBZ-SAT Satellite Successfully Launched Aboard SpaceX Falcon 9 Rocket

The UAE’s MBZ-SAT satellite has successfully lifted off from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. This significant launch, which took place on Tuesday, 14 January 2025, is another important milestone in the UAE’s ambitious space program. The satellite was developed by Emirati engineers at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) and is named in honor of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In addition to the MBZ-SAT, the launch also included two CubeSats created by Emirati universities. One of these is HCT-SAT 1, which was designed by students from the Higher Colleges of Technology, with supervision from experts at MBRSC. The other CubeSat, Al Ain Sat-1, was developed by the National Space Science and Technology Centre at the UAE University.

This launch underscores the UAE’s commitment to advancing its capabilities in space technology and satellite development. It also highlights the important role of educational institutions in fostering innovation and supporting the country’s goals in the space sector. The successful deployment of these satellites is expected to contribute to various applications, including Earth observation and scientific research.
