World Future Energy Summit 2025 to Drive Innovation in Clean Energy

The World Future Energy Summit 2025 is set to take place in Abu Dhabi from January 14 to 16 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC). As part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, the summit aims to strengthen its role as a global hub for clean energy innovation and international cooperation.

This year’s edition will focus on seven core themes: solar and clean energy, global warming initiatives, electric mobility, sustainable cities, water management, green finance, and the EcoWASTE Exhibition and Forum. Participants will showcase cutting-edge technologies like AI-driven irrigation systems, blockchain solutions for water management, and advanced nanotechnology for water treatment.

Lynn Al Sibai, General Manager of RX Middle East and Chair of the Summit, told Al Khaleej that the event will foster partnerships and discussions to tackle climate challenges while advancing sustainable solutions. She emphasized its role in promoting clean energy technologies and regional progress.

Ambitious Goals for Clean Energy

The UAE aims to increase clean energy contributions to 32% by 2030 under the UAE Energy Strategy 2050. Investments in the Middle East’s renewable energy sector are expected to reach $75.63 billion by 2030, supporting 116 major projects across solar, wind, and energy storage.

From 2019 to 2022, the UAE doubled its renewable energy capacity, reaching 6.1 gigawatts by 2023, with its global ranking in renewable energy consumption moving from sixth to second place, according to the Energy Institute. Notable projects include the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park and Dubai’s waste-to-energy facility.

AI and Sustainability

Artificial intelligence will play a major role at the summit, with discussions on how it can optimize energy usage, improve efficiency, and predict demand. Experts will explore integrating AI into energy systems without compromising sustainability.

Addressing Water Scarcity

With the Middle East facing alarming water shortages, the summit’s Water Conference will delve into sustainable solutions, including wastewater reuse, desalination, and innovative water technologies. The UN reports that only 11% of treated wastewater is reused globally, while the Middle East remains one of the most water-scarce regions.

Building Sustainable Cities

The summit will also highlight the growth of sustainable urban projects in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Initiatives like Masdar City and Zayed International Airport are setting new benchmarks for smart infrastructure and clean energy integration. Research indicates that the UAE and Saudi Arabia will invest $50 billion in smart city projects by 2025.

Record Participation

This year’s summit is expected to attract 30,000 attendees, including 350 high-profile executives, 40% of whom are women. With a 40% increase in exhibitors representing 60 countries, the event will host 11 international pavilions.

Key sessions will include Climate Innovation Exchange (CLIX), focusing on startups led by women, and discussions on electric mobility and decarbonization in transportation. The event’s growing significance reflects the global shift toward sustainable energy and innovative solutions.
