Sharjah Women’s Sports Club Wins 13 Medals at UAE Fencing Cup

The Sharjah Women’s Sports Club achieved notable success at the UAE Fencing Cup, which took place at the Al Mazhar Sports Hall in Dubai. Over three days of competitive events, the club’s athletes secured a total of 13 medals, demonstrating their significant growth and competitiveness in high-level sports.

On the first day of the tournament, which was Friday, February 7, 2025, the athletes excelled in the Under 11 and Under 20 categories. Meitha Al Marzouqi won a gold medal in the saber event, while Nora Al Ketbi earned a silver medal in the same category. Additionally, Afra Al Balushi claimed silver in the Under 20 saber event, and Habiba Mohamed contributed another silver in the foil discipline.

The second day, Saturday, February 8, 2025, brought further achievements in the Under 13 and Under 17 categories. Mahra Al Zarouni secured a bronze medal in the Under 13 saber event, with Hanan Saeed also winning bronze in foil. In the Under 17 category, Shamma Al Suwaidi showcased her skills, winning a silver medal in saber after a challenging final match.

The tournament culminated on Sunday, February 9, 2025, with competitions in the Under 15 and Open categories. Shamma Al Suwaidi captured the gold medal in saber, and Mahra Al Zarouni added another bronze in the same event. In the Open category, Anoud Al Saadi achieved gold in épée, while Zaynab Al Hosani and Habiba Mohamed each received silver medals in épée and foil, respectively. Maryam Al Dgheidi also earned silver in saber, contributing significantly to the club’s overall medal tally.

Hassan Al Zouari, the club’s fencing technical director, praised the athletes for their hard work and dedication. He noted that the results reflect their rigorous training and commitment, as well as the diverse participation from athletes of various nationalities and clubs, which enhanced the competition and provided valuable experiences for the players. Al Zouari expressed excitement about building on these results for future competitions, emphasizing the importance of continued training and technical support in promoting the sport of fencing in the emirate.
