Sheikh Khaled Approves $1.84 Billion Housing Benefits Package for Abu Dhabi Citizens

His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, has approved a significant housing benefits package valued at AED 6.75 billion ($1.84 billion). This initiative was authorized under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, who serves as Ruler of Abu Dhabi.

The housing benefits package is designed to assist 4,356 Emirati citizens living in Abu Dhabi. It encompasses housing loans totaling AED 5.08 billion, which will benefit 3,172 citizens. Additionally, it includes land grants and ready-built houses worth AED 1.585 billion for 1,100 citizens. Furthermore, the package provides exemptions from housing loan repayments, amounting to over AED 94.8 million for 84 senior citizens, limited-income retirees, and beneficiaries of deceased citizens.

This latest housing benefits package brings the total assistance provided to citizens in Abu Dhabi by the Abu Dhabi Housing Authority to over 123,000, with a cumulative value of approximately AED 168.85 billion. Notably, this package is the first of its kind for the year and is timely as it precedes Eid al-Fitr, showcasing the leadership’s ongoing commitment to fostering comprehensive development and enhancing the wellbeing of Emirati families.

Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, the chairman of the board of directors of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, stated that the leadership’s decision to distribute this housing benefits package underscores their dedication to fulfilling citizens’ housing needs and improving their quality of life. He emphasized that such initiatives are vital in strengthening social cohesion and promoting stability throughout Abu Dhabi.

Hamad Hareb Al Muhairi, the director general of Abu Dhabi Housing Authority, remarked that the package aligns with comprehensive development goals and the Year of Community’s objectives, which focus on promoting social cohesion and emphasizing the importance of adequate housing in creating a stable and prosperous society. Al Muhairi also noted that the authority is continually working to improve its programs and services to help citizens access suitable housing.

In a prior instance, Sheikh Khaled approved a housing and benefits package worth AED 2.18 billion in the previous year, which supported 1,502 citizens throughout Abu Dhabi.
