The new infrastructure includes a 24-kilometer sewerage system, which features 11 kilometers of household connections that link directly to the Dubai Municipality’s main sewerage network. An advanced pumping station has also been installed, which can handle a capacity of 4 000 liters per second, facilitating better water flow and improved rainwater management.

This project is part of the municipality’s strategic plans to upgrade Dubai’s infrastructure to tackle environmental challenges effectively. The demand for such sewerage and rainwater projects has increased following the historic flooding in Dubai in 2024.

Additionally, this initiative is part of a larger Dhs30 billion Tasreef project aimed at developing Dubai’s rainwater drainage network, as well as an Dhs80 billion upgrade program for the sewerage system. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, highlighted that the completion of the Nad Al Sheba project marks a significant advancement in connecting all areas of Dubai to a fully integrated drainage network.
