Saudi Arabia’s THE LINE Aims to Transform Urban Living with Renewable Energy and Advanced Technology

Saudi Arabia is embarking on a revolutionary urban project known as THE LINE, which is envisioned to stretch 170 kilometers long, 200 meters wide, and rise 500 meters high. This ambitious initiative is designed to redefine urban life and sustainability, aiming to create a carbon-free city powered entirely by renewable solar and wind energy. By 2045, the project is expected to accommodate 9 million residents while occupying only 5% of the land typically required for a city of its size.

The innovative vertical city concept will feature ultra-high-speed trains, allowing residents to travel from one end of THE LINE to the other in just 20 minutes. This design eliminates the need for cars, significantly reducing environmental impact. The project addresses challenges such as extreme desert temperatures and water scarcity through advanced natural cooling systems and the desalination of highly saline Red Sea water.

Mirrored facades will ensure that THE LINE blends seamlessly into its natural surroundings, creating an almost invisible urban masterpiece. Beyond its striking architecture, the project is committed to protecting the local ecosystem with minimal disruption, presenting a sustainable model for future urban development. This endeavor highlights the integration of cutting-edge artificial intelligence to manage various aspects of city life, including transportation, water supply, and healthcare.
