The partnership for this meeting was established between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and Etihad Rail. The objective was to foster long-term strategic relationships in transport, infrastructure, logistics, and railways. Discussions focused on sharing experiences from the UAE’s integrated railway system, which has been operational for over two years, and how these insights can be applied to the participating African countries.

During the meeting, significant agreements were made, including the exchange of two Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Etihad Rail and the Republics of South Sudan and Chad. These MoUs are designed to strengthen cooperation in the railway sector, infrastructure projects, and the exchange of expertise. They also include plans for a feasibility study concerning railway and logistics development in the involved nations.

According to ZAWYA, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan talked about the importance of these partnerships, stating that they aim to build bridges of cooperation and support infrastructure projects that contribute to regional development. He stated, “We are firmly convinced that integration in these sectors is a fundamental pillar of economic growth, and we are proud that the UAE is a reliable partner in this ambitious journey that serves the interests of all parties involved.”
