The Integrated Transport Centre, known as Abu Dhabi Mobility, in collaboration with Abu Dhabi Maritime, part of AD Ports Group, has officially inaugurated the Al Aliah Island ferry terminal. This new facility aims to improve connectivity for Al Aliah Island and support local development by providing easier ferry access.

The terminal is designed to meet the daily mobility needs of the island’s community while facilitating the efficient movement of goods, residents, workers, and visitors. It is situated on a 3,900-square-metre site and includes modern amenities to cater to the requirements of the local population.

According to Gulf Business, Dr. Abdulla Hamad AlGhfeli, acting director-general of the Integrated Transport Centre, spoke about the significance of the terminal’s opening. He stated, “This marks a new milestone in Abu Dhabi Mobility’s journey towards building an advanced maritime infrastructure.” He highlighted that this initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi Mobility’s strategic vision to enhance the emirate’s status as a leading global maritime hub.

Captain Saif Al Mheiri, CEO of Abu Dhabi Maritime and Chief Sustainability Officer at AD Ports Group, pointed out that the terminal contributes to a larger strategy aimed at improving Abu Dhabi’s maritime infrastructure. He mentioned, “The opening of Al Aliah Ferry Terminal follows last year’s launch of the Saadiyat Ferry Terminal.” This indicates a commitment to providing safer and more efficient maritime experiences.

Key features of the ferry terminal include seating for 60 passengers, two berths measuring 15 meters and 12.5 meters for roll-on/roll-off (ro-ro) vessels, an 80-square-metre office building, and dedicated parking spaces for trucks and crew accommodation. These features are expected to enhance the operational capacity of the terminal significantly.
