A big infrastructure project worth AED 798 million has been proposed by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) to make Al Qudra Street better. The project starts where Al Qudra Street meets Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and goes through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street until it reaches Emirates Road.

The main goal of the project is to improve traffic flow and make it easier for people in and around Dubai to get around. It is meant to help the emirate’s cities grow and its people continue to rise. Some of the most important parts of the project are the building of several interchanges, two-and-a-half-kilometer-long bridges, and an addition of 11.6 kilometers to Al Qudra Street.
The project should make the road more useful and cut journey time by a lot, from 9.4 minutes to just 2.8 minutes, when it’s done. This improvement will help about 400,000 people who live, visit, or work in different residential and development places.
Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA, Mattar Al Tayer, said that the Al Qudra Street Development Project is very important for making the East-West road network better. He said that it covers a number of important growth areas, such as The Sustainable City, Akoya, Mudon, Dubai Motor City, Dubai Studio City, Arabian Ranches 1 and 2, and DAMAC Hills.
Al Tayer said that the project will make the roads more useful and improve traffic flow at important junctions. This will help with traffic and shorten the time it takes to get from one place to another. It will also make it easier for cars to move on Al Qudra Street toward Emirates Road, which will connect directly to Al Qudra City. In addition to making roads safer, the project aims to boost the economy in the places around it.
Part of the project is improving the spot where Al Qudra Street meets the road that connects Arabian Ranches to Dubai Studio City. On Al Qudra Street, a new bridge with four lanes in each way will be built. It will be 600 meters long. With this change, the street will be able to handle 19,200 vehicles per hour instead of 6,600, and people will only have to wait 52 seconds instead of 113 seconds at the intersection.
The project also includes building a 700-meter bridge with seven lanes going in both ways to improve the area where Al Qudra Street and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street meet. Extra lanes will be added to the side ramps as part of this update to make sure that transitions go smoothly without stopping main traffic.
To improve the infrastructure even more, a 500-meter bridge has been built to connect Al Qudra Street to Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, which leads to Jebel Ali. A 900-meter bridge connects Downtown Dubai to Dubai International Airport.
Lastly, the project will make Al Qudra Street longer from where it meets Emirates Road to the roundabout. This will help important growth places like Town Square, Mira, and DAMAC Hills 2. As part of this phase, lanes will be added in both ways along 3.4 kilometers of Al Qudra Street. This will make it much easier for people to get to and from these growing communities.
In later stages, a new road will be built in the southern part of the developers’ area. It will go 4.8 kilometers and link to Emirates Road, making it even easier to get to the development areas. Also, the number of roads on both sides of Emirates Road will be increased over a 4.8-kilometer stretch to make it easier to get to projects in the area.
