The Sharjah Electricity, Water and Gas Authority (SEWA) is investing up to AED107,435,000 to enhance water transmission and distribution networks in Kalba city. These projects are designed to address the growing demand for water, which is essential for various development initiatives in the city, according to a statement from SEWA.

Youssef Al Hammadi, Director of the Kalba Department at SEWA, explained that these projects align with the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. The Ruler’s commitment to providing necessary infrastructure supports both economic and urban projects across the emirate, ensuring that the needs of the community are met.
The projects include an extension of the water network in the new Kalba Industrial Area, which has an allocated budget of AED5,000,000 and is expected to be completed in January 2025. Following this, the second phase will commence, contingent on preparations by strategic partners such as the Planning and Survey Department and Kalba Municipality, with a budget of AED3,665,111 for extending services.
Additionally, SEWA has completed a project to extend a main water line from the industrial area to the Al Buhaira neighborhood, also costing AED5,000,000. Current work is focused on extending another main water line to the Wadi Al Helo area, which includes a new pumping station with a budget of AED43,769,621, expected to be finished in January 2025.
Further plans include extending a water line for the Jabal Aldeem project, which will involve the establishment of new pumping and lifting stations, with a total budget reaching up to AED50,000,000. This project is scheduled for completion by December 2025. Al Hammadi emphasized that SEWA is committed to using the best technical specifications and modern piping solutions to ensure effective water distribution, reflecting the ongoing economic and urban growth in Kalba as guided by the Ruler of Sharjah.
