Al Jalila Foundation Receives AED 10 Million Donation from Commercial Bank of Dubai

Dubai, UAE: Al Jalila Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dubai Health, has announced a significant donation of AED 10 million from Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD). This funding will support the construction and development of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital, which is set to be Dubai’s first fully integrated and comprehensive cancer care facility.

This partnership signifies a mutual commitment to improving human health and highlights the importance of collaboration between national institutions to enhance access to world-class medical services, especially in oncology.

The donation agreement was formalized during an official visit to the Foundation by H.E. Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, the Chairman of Commercial Bank of Dubai, along with Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, CEO of Al Jalila Foundation. During the visit, they were briefed about the Foundation’s core programs and future initiatives by the staff.

The signing ceremony also included notable attendees such as Dr. Amer Sharif, CEO of Dubai Healthcare City, and Dr. Abdullah Al Khayat, CEO Emeritus of Al Jalila Children’s Hospital.

H.E. Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar stated that the support for the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital reflects CBD’s commitment to serving the community and aiding individuals in need of advanced medical care. He emphasized that this partnership aligns with the UAE’s long-standing commitment to promoting philanthropy in the healthcare sector and upholding community solidarity.

Dr. Amer Al Zarooni, the CEO of Al Jalila Foundation, expressed gratitude for CBD’s generous contribution. He highlighted that this project represents a significant advancement in Dubai’s healthcare landscape and showcases the power of collaboration in enhancing cancer care and improving patients’ lives.

The Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital will span 59,000 square meters and is being developed with contributions received through Al Jalila Foundation, which leads Dubai Health’s philanthropic initiatives.

The hospital aims to become a world-class medical institution, equipped with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic technologies and staffed by highly qualified specialists and trained nurses. It will also focus on cancer research and education, promoting innovative treatments and investing in the training of future healthcare professionals.

Designed with input from cancer survivors to ensure a patient-centered environment, the hospital will consist of G+8 floors and has received a Gold award in the Future Healthcare Projects category from World Architecture News. Once operational, it will provide advanced, integrated cancer care to patients in need.
