Robotic Surgery in UAE Enhances Patient Care and Recovery

Robotic surgery is rapidly becoming a standard practice in hospitals across the UAE, significantly improving patient outcomes. At Clemenceau Medical Centre Hospital, a landmark milestone was recently achieved with 825 successful robotic surgeries performed since the program’s launch in 2021. Utilizing the da Vinci Robotic Surgical System, surgeons can execute complex procedures with enhanced accuracy, resulting in less pain and quicker recovery times for patients.

According to Khaleej Times, Dr. Walid Faraj, a consultant general surgeon at CMC Dubai, emphasized that the robot does not replace the surgeon but acts as an advanced tool. He explained, “The robot helps us move with greater control, especially in tight spaces inside the body. This means we can operate with minimal damage to surrounding tissues.” As a result, patients often experience fewer complications and smaller incisions, leading to smoother recoveries.

Robotic surgery is proving especially beneficial for women facing complex reproductive health issues. Dr. Elias Abi Khalil, a specialist in gynecology and obstetrics, noted that the technology allows for surgeries with a level of precision previously unattainable. He remarked that patients benefit from less pain, reduced bleeding, and significantly faster recovery times.

A key advantage of robotic surgery is its minimally invasive nature, which means surgeons can make smaller incisions. This approach not only alleviates pain but also accelerates the healing process. The technology is applicable in various surgical fields, including general surgery, gynecology, urology, bariatrics, and orthopedics.

Dr. Abdul Kader Weiss, a specialist laparoscopic surgeon at CMC Dubai, highlighted the smoothness and precision that robotic systems bring to surgeries. He stated, “The robot lets my hands move with incredible smoothness and precision. It makes surgery safer and outcomes better.” With the increasing prevalence of robotic surgery, patients can look forward to enhanced recoveries, minimized risks, and superior surgical results, thanks to the integration of human expertise and robotic technology.
